About Salgu (they/them)

Welcome to Salgu Wissmath Photography! I am a queer, nonbinary, Korean American photographer based in San Antonio, TX and part time in Sacramento, CA. I use they/them pronouns. With 20 years of photography experience, I am available for portraits, headshots and personal branding, weddings, and event photography. I also offer nonprofit and video storytelling.

I am proud to be part of several photo organizations dedicated to diversity and inclusion in the photo industry including Diversify Photo, Women Photograph, and Authority Collective. I specialize in documenting the LGBTQIA+ community from a decolonialized lens. Check out some of my favorite projects documenting the queer community: showing the importance of clothing for trans individuals, highlighting a summer camp creating safe spaces for queer youth in Texas, and illustrating what gender dysphoria feels like. If you have an LGBTQIA+ wedding, want to take portraits to document your gender transition, or just want some new headshots to affirm who you are, I would love to work with you.

My background is in photojournalism and I will apply a documentary touch to your photo session. I have also worked for publications such as The San Antonio Express-News, The San Francisco Chronicle, The New York Times, The Guardian, and NPR. Check out more of my editorial and documentary work here.
